Financial Stability Partnership

Mission:  To assist individuals and families to secure the belief in a better future through the application of financial literacy skills, enabling them to achieve meaningful financial improvement in measurable steps.

The United Way of York County is the lead agency in developing an initiative called the Financial Stability Partnership.  The goal is to help families and individuals get off the financial tightrope and learn how to meet their basic subsistence needs and plan for the future.  A Steering Committee was formed and is in the process of developing program goals in two areas:  Financial Literacy and Financial Stability.  Click here for a list of the members of The Financial Stability Partnership Steering Committee.

A first step taken by United Way is the creation of the Free Taxpayer Assistance Program to help families increase their income by applying for tax credit programs.  In the first year, over 600 qualified families applied for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and over $760,000 came back to those families and the York community.

In the next year, the Steering Committee will develop goals, objectives and strategies around the 3 steps toward financial independence:  increase income, build savings and gain and sustain assets.
