Celebrating 100 Years

United Way of York County celebrates 100 years of service to our community in 2021. We began as The York Welfare Federation, an organization that raised funds on behalf of 17 member agencies.  Today, as United Way of York County, the mission of raising community funds remains the same, but the strategies have broadened in order to meet the growing and changing needs of people living in York County.
Join us this year as we take a look back at 100 years of impact, and look ahead at the future we can build together for York County: A future where every person in our community can thrive.
What's Your 100?
In celebration of 100 years, we're asking our donors, volunteers, and supporters to consider... What's Your 100? How will you celebrate the impact YOU can have on York County? Take a look at some ideas, or brainstorm your own, and let us know what you'll commit to this year to build a stronger, caring community!
  • Give 100% of your gift to the United Way of York County Impact Fund (formerly the United Way of York County Community Fund)
  • Donate 100 books, helping 100 kids achieve reading skills on par for their grade level.
  • Increase your workplace Campaign pledge or gift by $100.
  • Commit to volunteering 100 hours throughout the year — solo, with a group of friends or coworkers, or even with your family!
  • Invite 100 friends to “Like” United Way of York County’s Facebook page and other social media accounts.
  • Advocate for 100% giving participation in your workplace, home, neighborhood or friend group.
  • Get the whole family involved! Collect 100 pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, or $1 bills to donate to United Way of York County.
  • Grab a group of friends and collect and donate 100 of a needed item: canned food items, toiletries/toothbrushes, backpacks, jackets/coats, kits for the homeless, winter items (hats, scarves, gloves, coats).
  • Hold a competition in your office to raise donations of 100 food items for a food pantry.
  • Pledge to increase your workplace Campaign pledge by $100 per payroll deduction.
