FIRST is PA 2-1-1 SouthCentral Region

United Way’s information and referral service – FIRST – is now PA 2-1-1.  People now can dial 2-1-1 to access a comprehensive, 24/7 information and referral line connecting people with specialists who can determine which health and human services or government agencies can provide assistance.

PA 2-1-1 SouthCentral PA Region is administered by CONTACT-Harrisburg and covers York, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Perry and Adams counties.  You may also dial (717) 755-1000 as well which will connect you to PA 2-1-1.

Information and Referral is the process of linking people to services and information.  When you call, staff will listen as you describe your situation and your needs, and then will identify resources to assist you.  Callers inquire for help with anything from food, shelter, rent and utility assistance to health care, legal assistance and employment assistance.  FIRST serves those living in, or seeking information about York County, Pennsylvania.

FIRST began in 1980 as the "United Way's Hotline for Help."  Over time, the service has grown dramatically from answering 800 phone calls a year to 37,000 calls.
