York, PA - United Way of York County announced today that President Brian Grimm will leave the organization as his family relocates.
"Brian has been transformational for United Way of York County," said Jules Tolbert, Board Chair. "He assembled a strong leadership team, stabilized our finances, and grew community confidence in a new strategic direction. Most importantly, he sharpened our focus to create lasting impact for working households in York County on their journey toward financial stability. We are deeply grateful for the incredible foundation he has built."
Under Grimm's leadership, United Way of York County strengthened its financial position, expanded meaningful partnerships across the county, and positioned the organization for continued impact. The organization is prepared for this transition with a capable leadership team in place and sound organizational finances.
"This has been one of the most meaningful roles of my career, " Grimm said. "Today, United Way of York County is financially stable, strategically clear, and laser-focused on a mission to assist working households on their journey toward financial stability. That transformation wasn't my doing alone - it was the work of an exceptional team and the support of this community. I'm confident United Way will continue to thrive."
The United Way of York County Board of Directors has appointed a search committee to conduct a comprehensive search for the organization's next leader. Grimm will remain with the organization as President through the search and transition process, ensuring continuity and stability. The search committee plans to complete the leadership transition by late summer.
Board leadership will remain stable through the transition, with Jules Tolbert continuing as Board Chair through June 30 and John Eyster assuming the role on July 1 as previously announced.
"Brian leaves United Way of York County stronger than he found it, and the stage is set for our next chapter," Tolbert said. "We have a capable team, sound finances, and a clear mission focused on helping working households achieve financial stability. We're moving forward with confidence to create lasting impact in York County."
About United Way of York County
For 100 years, United Way of York County has worked in the York County community to improve people's lives. It began as The York Welfare Federation, an organization that raised funds on behalf of 17 member agencies. Today, as United Way of York County, the mission remains the same, but the strategies have evolved in order to meet the growing and changing needs of people living in our York community.
In 2022, United Way of York County announced a plan to transform its community impact to an issue-focused model, concentrating future efforts on the issue of working households struggling to cover basic living expenses. Approximately one in four York County households earn more than the federal poverty level but do not earn enough to pay for basic needs. United Way of York County's goal is to help bridge the gap for thousands of financially struggling, working families through short-term support while also building pathways to self-sufficiency. United Way of York County's goal is to assist working households in our community on their journey toward financial stability by collaboratively and equitably reducing barriers to prosperity.
